Some of you may remember the Christian Psychologist Dr. Larry Crabb. One of his books was a major influence in our church when I came to White Rock 27 years ago. Mimi Dixon was his Pastor! I would like to encourage you to sign up for the “Half-day Retreat” with Mimi. She is preparing an experience to guide us to notice Jesus in Unexpected Places. I want as many of us as possible to experience this together! Mimi has had a powerful impact on my life and she is also a dear friend of Carolyn Arends. Believe me, you don’t want to miss this unique and powerful opportunity. Limited tickets are available on our website and our “Church Center” app. Please make this course a priority for the morning of May 23rd which will include a lunch. See you there! How can we walk by his side in trust and friendship, even when the path seems unclear?* We’ll explore those questions together through teaching from Mimi Dixon, worship with Josiah Wall and Carolyn Arends, some quiet time for personal reflection and journaling, and conversation over a shared lunch. Expect a meaningful opportunity to pause, be refreshed, and connect more deeply with God and one another. **Miriam (Mimi) Dixon** began her ministry in 1979 serving as an associate pastor at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Seattle, Washington. From April of 1985 to May of 2019 she served as senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Golden, Colorado. She earned both her MDiv and DMin degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary. Mimi is on the Renovaré Board of Directors and teaches for the Renovaré Institute. Nada. Zilch. Zero.” What’s he suggesting? That we should literally be anxious for absolutely nothing? Lucado says, “The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of anxiety is optional. It’s the life of perpetual anxiety that Paul wants to address. Don’t let anything in life leave you perpetually in angst.” “With His help you will learn to face the calamities of life. You’ll learn how to talk yourself off the ledge. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you will learn to view bad news through the lens of sovereignty; to discern the lies of Satan and tell yourself the truth. You will manifest a gentleness that is evident to others. Anxiety comes with life. But it doesn’t have to dominate your life.” Pastor Stephen and Deanna look forward to exploring this 5 week series with you and growing our connection with Christ through continual challenges in our lives.
