A Note from Pastor Steve & the Board
Brothers and sisters I'm excited to address you in our newsletter!
I'm privileged to know many of your stories through visitation or pastoral counseling or just life in general! God is up to something, and He has been moving in our congregation, our youth group, our children's ministry including STEM Club, our home groups and in our visitation ministry.
I'm so delighted that our church is really beginning to reflect the diversity of culture that is also causing the community around us to grow! I'm excited to see folks from different backgrounds, languages and experiences come together to worship, to participate and serve and to be formed by the daily movement of Jesus Christ. To me that’s a little piece of heaven!
You know that our mission is, “Helping people reach their God-given potential in Jesus Christ.” You are also familiar in that I'm a big fan of folks knowing that God not only loves people, He likes them!
Lately more has been bubbling and I sense that not only are we growing with more people coming, and more people becoming members, but I sense a desire to grow deeper and more vulnerable with Jesus. Below is a statement that I think describes our experience as of late and where we are going.
We are a community:
Participating and sharing in a safe, sacred and culturally diverse community where folks can respond to the invitation of God in ordinary life, to be formed together with others as emotionally and spiritually maturing followers of Jesus.
Here are some juicy words of action in this paragraph.
- Participating
- Sharing
- responding
- being formed in community
- maturing
These are all action words and responses to God’s movement of grace in your life and mine.
Opportunity
Over the past years, we have had many services where we have been full at capacity in our parking lot and our sanctuary which is exciting news!
Our youth ministry is robust! Our Kids STEM program and children’s ministry has essentially doubled, and more families are interested in checking us out for the first time or to make WRCC their home.
The board has been sensing for a while now that to meet the needs of our greater community and to participate in the good things that the Trinity is up to, we need to offer more opportunities for our community, for our service and for growth. We believe that White Rock Community Church is a place that can offer folks a clear vision for daily life in Christ.
Church growth statistics tell us repeatedly that at a certain capacity people stop coming to church. That number is about 80% capacity. This could mean 80% in our sanctuary or 80% in our parking lot, foyer or Christian Education rooms.
In response to this, our board is excited to offer an opportunity to meet many of those unmet needs in our community.
On September 13th we are having our traditional fall kick-off for church, and the week after, September 20th, will be moving to a 2-service platform.
We will be offering one service at 9:15 am with a full childcare education program. Another service will begin at 11 am with nursery care and an activity packet for older children.
We’ll keep track of attendance of the two services and any feedback received and see if the service times need to be adjusted. These evaluations will be handled by the staff and church board, so please kindly let us know of any concerns.
Growing Pains:
Change is hard. And we know that this is a big ask from you. It's a great concern to have when we're having trouble seating people, and we don't want to turn people away.
We know it will take effort from staff, ministry leaders, the board and all of you, to maintain and deepen a sense of community. It will take effort for us to maintain this sense of community, to put skin in the game and meet outside of church, join a home group or start an interest group.
We know that you will miss some people that you won't regularly see if they go to the other service.
Growing Gains
Going to 2 services will relieve the sense of overcrowding in our parking lot and in our sanctuary.
Going to 2 services will allow you to freely invite your neighbors and families without a concern of not being able to sit together.
Going to 2 services will allow us to grow in diversity, reflecting the community that has grown so much around us.
Going to 2 services will open ministry opportunities where each of you will be able to explore, discover and exercise your spiritual gifts and talents.
Going to 2 services also helps us fulfill the mission of our church, that we really believe that we can help people reach their God-given potential in Jesus Christ!
An exciting future
As we make room for more people to attend, grow and serve, it will take creative intention from all of us.
- Intentional commitment to home groups
- shared interest groups
- more social events
- men's ministry
- after church coffee/lunch
- hospitality
We will continue to monitor these values throughout the implementation.
Thank you for your personal commitment to growth and your dedication to a growing family of believers in Jesus who want to reach more people with the refreshing and saving knowledge of a life in Christ.

Mystery Club: Investigating the Truth of Jesus
Get ready for an exciting week of discovery, creativity, and fun! At Mystery Club, kids will step into the role of investigators as we explore the truth of Jesus through engaging Bible stories, real-life stories of faith, and hands-on activities.
Each day will include fun games, interactive challenges, and time to build friendships, along with a snack to keep everyone energized.
Kids will be encouraged to ask questions, think deeply, and discover how the story of Jesus connects to their own lives.
This program is designed for elementary-aged kids and offers a safe, welcoming environment where every child can belong, learn, and have a great time.
We can’t wait to investigate together!
If you have any questions about registering or the program, please contact our Director of Children's Ministry:
