Updates

We had a wonderful time at our Summer Church BBQ last Sunday!

A special thank you to Andrew, who has faithfully overseen the BBQ for the past 13 years and chopped up all those delicious onions for us (though Becky and Tennyson, our resident non-onion fans, may have differing opinions!).

It was also such a blessing to have Derrick's support as he explores a hospitality-focused position on our board; we've already had a great conversation around our planning for next year.

Josiah finished off his season with a bang at the BBQ before settling into his sabbatical. A big thank you for taking on the water balloons prep and slingshot fun!

Thank you to Josie for sharing her creative talents through face painting, and to Javier and Tennyson for jumping in wherever they were needed throughout the day. Ana, thank you for taking on the Costco shopping list, and Joni for chopping tomatoes and lettuce for what must have felt like an eternity! Jacob for capturing these moments on camera and Bryce, thank you for joining our clean-up efforts and returning items to the church.

We are also so grateful to everyone who pitched in, brought delicious dishes to share, and helped make the day such a joyful time of fellowship. We certainly seemed to have a sweet tooth this year on the potluck table, and nobody was complaining about that!

If we've inadvertently missed anyone, please know how deeply thankful we are for everyone who helped make the BBQ such a wonderful success. Thank you all!

Our Coffee Klatsch group was recently recognized and deeply thanked by BC Children's Hospital and Women's Hospital for their kind donations of knit hats and dolls. What a beautiful difference they are making during challenging times for these patients.

If you have some left over yarn to give, no matter how small the balls are, they can use all kinds of sizes and colours. You can leave them with Deanna in the office or connect with Henny directly.

Coffee Klatsch meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 10am in our Fellowship Hall downstairs and everyone is welcome.

From our missionary: Peter Twele

Dear praying friends,

I just received this message from Sa’id and Samy, the Sonora team I’ve been consulting for …

“Hi Peter, These days we are going through very difficult circumstances. One of our brothers has been arrested in the city where we are staying, and we are now in hiding. Also, our names were posted on Facebook some time ago. We ask you to pray for us and for our families. I had hoped to wait until our meeting to tell you about this, but no one knows what may happen tomorrow. Therefore, please pray for us, and ask any brothers and sisters you know to pray for us as well … being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).”

I would appreciate your prayers for Sa’id and Samy and their families, as well as the many other believers in the country … both those who have been in prison for some time now, as well as for those who are now being hunted by the authorities. This is happening because they’ve put their faith in Jesus.

UPDATE: I asked him, “Do you have people helping take care of your needs?” and he wrote back, “Yes, people are taking care of us.”

So, they are not trying to survive out on the streets, and yet they are still hiding from the authorities. When I find out more details, I will let you know. For now, thanks for continuing to pray for them.

Thanks for praying,

Peter

It is an especially poignant weekend to bask in the Father's love for us. This is a beautiful letter, crafted together from scripture, to remind you how deeply you are loved.

The Magic of Ordinary Days (2005) is a beloved Hallmark Hall of Fame period romance. Set in 1944, it stars Keri Russell as Livy, a pregnant unwed mother sent to rural Colorado for an arranged marriage to a quiet, hardworking farmer, Ray (Skeet Ulrich). Together, they slowly build a touching, genuine bond.
Everyone welcome. Bring a snack to share and a friend to join in! Enter around the back by the parking lot.

Mystery Club: Investigating the Truth of Jesus

Get ready for an exciting week of discovery, creativity, and fun! At Mystery Club, kids will step into the role of investigators as we explore the truth of Jesus through engaging Bible stories, real-life stories of faith, and hands-on activities.

Each day will include fun games, interactive challenges, and time to build friendships, along with a snack to keep everyone energized.

Kids will be encouraged to ask questions, think deeply, and discover how the story of Jesus connects to their own lives.

This program is designed for elementary-aged kids and offers a safe, welcoming environment where every child can belong, learn, and have a great time.

We can’t wait to investigate together!

If you have any questions about registering or the program, please contact our Director of Children's Ministry:

God in My Everything by Ken Shigematsu

"God in My Everything" by Ken Shigematsu is a spiritual guide helping busy people integrate faith into daily life through a "rule of life"—a personal rhythm of spiritual practices. It teaches that God can be experienced in work, family, and leisure, not just quiet solitude, fostering a deeper connection with Jesus.
